IDA Districts 1.0.1 – Changelog
New Components
- CarnotHpChillerIdealFlow
Substation model for combined heating and cooling operation.- Includes two reversible pumps that draw flow either from the supply or return line depending on the operating mode (`hcmode`: heat pump / chiller).
- The required mass flow is calculated automatically based on the current heating or cooling demand.
- Performance is derived from the Carnot efficiency combined with a configurable real efficiency.
- The component maintains the calculated mass flow under ideal flow conditions.
- Bi2UniSwitchValve
Bidirectional-to-unidirectional flow adapter.- Converts bidirectional flow into a controlled unidirectional flow.
- The valve control signal determines the active flow direction and flow path.
- HP_A2B
Air-to-brine heat pump mode- Represents a heat pump using ambient air as the heat source and a brine circuit on the secondary side.
- Represents a heat pump using ambient air as the heat source and a brine circuit on the secondary side.
- pow
Mathematical signal-processing component.- Raises the input signal to a configurable exponent.
- Can be used for custom control functions and mathematical relationships within the model.
- GHX_Many – Borehole Field Model
Three-dimensional ground heat exchanger model for arbitrary borehole field configurations.- Supports any combination of vertical or inclined boreholes with equal borehole length.
- Based on the superposition of cylindrical 2D temperature fields around each borehole.
- Includes a 1D vertical ground temperature field representing the undisturbed ground temperature and geothermal gradient.
- Supports several symmetry options to reduce computational effort.
- Includes Dirichlet boundary conditions at the top and bottom of the computational domain and an insulated outer boundary.
Accounts for ambient temperature, annual mean temperature and deep-ground temperature.
The model provides several temperature variables for detailed analysis, including:
- **TUnDist** – Undisturbed ground temperature including the geothermal effect.
- **DTref** – Ground temperature variation caused by climatic temperature variations.
- **DT** – Temperature change caused by an individual borehole.
- **DTSum** – Combined thermal influence of all surrounding boreholes on a specific borehole.
- **TReal** – Actual ground temperature at the borehole locations.
- **T** – Temperature field within a user-defined calculation plane.
Updated and New Templates
- Low-Temperature Network
The existing low-temperature network template has been extended and updated.- PE pipes are now available from the database.
- Three different network configurations are provided.
- A new third configuration introduces a **meshed network topology with two energy plants**.
- The two plants are controlled dynamically according to the network load.
- Waste heat integration has been added.
- The previous star-shaped network configuration has been extended to demonstrate a meshed network topology.
- Secondary Network
New template demonstrating the interaction between a primary and secondary district energy network.- Includes two separate networks within the same simulation.
- The primary and secondary networks are hydraulically separated by a heat exchanger.
- Demonstrates energy transfer and interaction between two network levels.
- Heating & Cooling Network
New template combining a district heating network and a district cooling network.- Includes separate heating and cooling distribution networks.
- The cooling network is designed with a smaller capacity and network size than the heating network.
- Demonstrates the simultaneous modelling of heating and cooling infrastructure within one district energy system.
