Tables for Cooling load simulation

The Zones table shows zone peak results of the last cooling load simulation. For the multi-simulation summary, the absolute peak cooling loads for each zone over the year are shown. When an individual month is shown, the peak cooling load for each zone for this specific month is shown. Note that individual zones may have higher peaks in other months.

Find general information about the scalar results and Summary tab here Simulation results.

Zone

The zone name.

Group

The group name (assigned by the user or by the tool that created the model).

Room multiplier, M

The number of rooms with these conditions. The "TOTAL" row shows (where applicable) the sums over all zones counting with zone multipliers

Heat removed

Maximal value of the heat (both sensible and latent) removed from the zone by mechanical and natural ventilation (including leaks and infiltration) and from local units (both convective and radiative). Heat removed by condensation in fan coils, ideal coolers or other devices with condensation drainage is included. Heat removed by accidental condensation on cooling surfaces in the zone is not counted (a warning is issued if such condensation occurs). The peak time is given as a tool tip (and under Time if this variable is the set variable for Cooling load).

Note that this is the actual heat removed and not that which would be required to maintain a certain temperature. For cooling load studies, make sure that the setpoint temperature has been fulfilled.

Time

The peak time for the variable chosen for the Cooling load simulation, "Heat removed" or "Room unit cool". Peaks are calculated separately for both these variables, but all other variables in the table get their peak values at this time. The chosen variable is shown in the column before the Time column and the other one after the Time column.

Note that the multi-simulation report collects results from all of the different simulations that have been done to find the worst day for each zone, i.e. the peak may occur at different months for different zones.

Room unit cool

Maximal value of the heat removed from the zone by room units (both convective and radiative). (See comments on condensation above). The time for this maximum may be different from the total heat removed peak. The peak time is given as a tool tip (and under Time if this variable is the set variable for Cooling load).

Temp.

Mean air temperature in the zone at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Op temp

Operative temperature at the position of the first occupant at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time). Empty if no occupants in zone

Sup airflow

Mechanical air supply flow rate at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Sup airtemp.

The temperature of air supplied by mechanical ventilation (mean value in case of multiple supply ducts) at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time). Empty if there was no air supply at that time.

Ret airflow

Mechanical air return flow rate at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Other sup airflow

Air supply flow rate from openings, open windows and doors, leaks, chimneys, and infiltration at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Other sup airtemp

The temperature of air supplied from openings, open windows and doors, leaks, chimneys, and infiltration at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time). Empty if there was no air supply at that time.

Rel hum

Relative humidity of the air in the zone at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

CO2

Concentration of CO2 in the zone at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

PPD

Percentage of people dissatisfied at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time). The value is an average for all the people present at that time (in one or more groups). It is empty if there is no occupancy at that time.

Envelope and thermal bridges

Heat gained through external walls, floors, roofs and through thermal bridges at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Internal walls and masses

Heat gained through internal walls, floors, ceilings and internal masses at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Window and solar

Net heat gain through external windows, i.e. through long and short wave radiation as well as via transmission trough pane and frame. Advected heat through open windows is included in Infiltration and openings. The value is presented at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Mechanical supply air

Sensible heat supplied by mechanical ventilation at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Infiltration and openings

Sensible heat supplied via air from leaks and openings. For systems with only mechanical exhaust ventilation, all supply air will be accounted for here at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Occupants

Sensible heat from people in the zone, i.e. excluding heat from perspiration, at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Equipment

Heat from equipment in the zone, e.g. computers etc., at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Lighting

Heat from artificial lighting at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Local heating units

Heat from controlled heating units, e.g. radiators, fan coils etc., at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Local cooling units

Sensible heat from controlled cooling units, e.g. chilled beams, fan coils etc., at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

Net losses

Heat from pipes, ducts etc., the leakage from which has been defined in Extra energy and losses at the peak time of the chosen variable (see Time).

The last 11 columns are given both in W and in W/m2.

The Systems table shows the maximum total cooling power that has been supplied by the systems to the building and the time for this peak. At this peak, individual contributions to air handling units and room units (zones) are specified.

The Air handling units table shows the peak cooling point of each air handling unit.

AHU

The name of the air handling unit.

Cooling

Cooling power transferred by cooling coils.

Time

The time of peak cooling coil load.

Heating

Heating power transferred at time of peak cooling.

AHU cold recovery

Recovered cooling power in heat exchanger at time of peak cooling.

AHU heat recovery

Recovered heating power in heat exchanger at time of peak cooling.

Humidification

Power required for humidification at time of peak cooling.

Fans

Total fan power drawn at time of peak cooling.

The Traded Energy table shows peak demand values and peak times for different energy meters. For more information about this table and  the Delivered energy table, see Tables for Energy and Custom simulations.
