The CFD session form

A CFD session is intended to keep separate CFD activities apart. Currently it is however adviced that only one IDA ICE model is simulated at a time.

A CFD session is automatically started when starting a CFD simulation or meshing of a case using e.g. the Run button. The session controls servers running on the CFD backend and for usage with WSL, most things are automatic and this form is rarely needed.

The text information presented in this form is mostly for debugging and support purposes, and can usually be ignored.

Launch session

Note that it is normally not necessary to launch a session manually, using this button. A session is automatically started when the Run button is pressed.

This starts the backend and the programs on the backend that orchestrate the CFD simulations.

Browse backend files

This opens a Web window, showing all CFD case related files that exists on the backend. Both the recently simulated cases and the file transfer area. It can be useful to retreive CFD data after a program crash or to view CFD case- and log-files for debugging.

Ping launcher

For trouble-shooting purposes. Press this button and look for a response in the log window of IDA ICE, if you are uncertain about wether the backend services is running or not.

Shutdown WSL

Sometimes one may need to forcefully restart the backend, and here is where that can be done, using the Shutdown WSL button. The WSL backend will be restarted automatically when the Launch session or the Run button is pressed.

You also reach the WSL form from this form.

Terminate session

This stopps a running session. You may see it as a light version of the Shutdown WSL button. Use if the backend does not seem to respond correctly.

Disconnect & Reconnect session

Currently not implemented.
