Pictograms

Pictograms may be associated with data entities and graphical elements.

A pictogram may be denoted by

  • a string containing the filename of a 16-color bitmap (.bmp) or icon (.ico) file.
    For pictograms associated with data entities, the file should be in the application directory and the image size should be 16x16 pixels.
    For pictograms associated with graphical elements, the file name should include the path, (the IDA shortcuts sys: and lib: are supported).
  • a list (filename index) where the index denotes
    • for icon files: the icon number (default 1)
    • for bitmaps: the color index that should be replaced with the actual background color (default 15).
  • a symbol denoting a predefined pictogram.
  • a PICT structure (see below).

Here is a list of predefined pictograms (more pictogram may be defined in applications):

The format of pict structure is

#S(PICT type type [data data] [options (key value ...)]).

Here are the supported PICT types. The data is either an object of the given type (as described in the table below), or a symbol that denote such an object (see options below), or a script expression that is evaluated to such an object.

type data
color An RGB structure, or a number representing a system color, or a string containing color name, or one of keywords :default, :transparent, nil (represents a missing value), or a parameter of type color;
fill Either one of keywords :foreground, :solid, :background, :blank, :12%foreground, :25%foreground, :37%foreground, :50%foreground, :62%foreground, :75%foreground, :87%foreground, :left-diagonal, :right-diagonal, :horizontal, :vertical, :cross, :cross-diagonal,:horizontal-cylinder, :vertical-cylinder or a script evaluated to a keyword or to a bitmap
arrow an integer.
legend (color style marker)
image "filename" or a script evaluated to a filename

The options contain additional data for evaluating and drawing pictograms. They are used together with the custom properties of objects containing pictograms (dialog or menu items); the PICT's options have precedence. Here are some options:

:object data object used as the base for script evaluation;
:default-color
:transparent-color
the colors used instead of :default and :transparent colors. Default values are system colors WINDOWTEXT and MENU.
:dir the arrow direction. May be :left, :right (default), :up, :down
:shape the diagram type for legend. May be :line (default), :spline, :area, :bar, :stack-bar
