Climate-based daylight performance metrics

The metrics for climate-based daylight can be defined by clicking "Metrics", given that "Climate-based daylight" simulation is selected. This simulation type is only available in the Beta version.

In Beta version only

The following metrics exist per default:

Metric nameDescription
AVGThe average value over time of the measurement field during the simulation.
MAXThe maximum value over time of the measurement field during the simulation.
DAThe percentage of measured area that receives at least L lux for at least 50%. The limits L can be adjusted using FIELD-LIMITS. (DA = Daylight Autonomy)
CDAThe percentage of measured area that receives at least L lux for at least 50% (Partial credit possible). The limits L can be adjusted using FIELD-LIMITS. (CDA = Continuous Daylight Autonomy)
SDAThe percentage of measured area that receives at least L lux for at least 50% of the occupied time. The limits L can be adjusted using FIELD-LIMITS. Calculated according to EN 17037. (SDA = Spatial Daylight Autonomy).
LEED_SDAThe percentage of measured area that receives at least L lux for at least 50% of the occupied time. The limits L can be adjusted using FIELD-LIMITS. Calculated according to LM-83. (SDA = Spatial Daylight Autonomy).
ASEThe percentage of measured area that receives at least L lux of direct sunlight for at least 250 occupied hours per year. The limits L can be adjusted using FIELD-LIMITS. (ASE = Annual Sunlight Exposure).
UDI(UDI = Useful Daylight Illuminance)
INSOLATIONInsolation, total irradiance on the measurement plane in kWh per square meter
HOURSABOVE10The number of hours that the measurement exceeds the limit(s) given by FIELD-LIMITS.
BREEAM_AVGThe number of hours the illuminance exceeds the limit(s) given by FIELD-LIMITS (average over plane).
BREEAM_MINThe number of hours the illuminance exceeds the limit(s) given by FIELD-LIMITS (pointwise). The minimum is computed using aggregate.
H_NUTZ_A_RELAnalysis according to German standard DIN 5034-3 (H_Nutz,A,rel).

Each metric is defined by the following parameters, which can be changed:

Parameter nameType/RangeDescription
ENABLEDTrue, FalseDecide if the metric should be computed
DISPLAYNAMEAny stringThe base name that will be used in reports
FIELD-LIMITSList of positive valuesList of lower and upper limits, for e.g., sDA. Must always be a list that starts and ends with parantheses.
INPERCENTTrue, FalseDecide if the result in report should be given as a percentage
TIME-AGGREGATIONavg, max, boolean, fuzzy, integral, hoursAboveHow the metric should be according time-aggregation-wise
NORMCONSTnone (no normalization will be made)
count (the number of included time steps in the calculation will be used for normalization)
constantOccupancy (the constant occupancy of 4380 hours/year will be used for normalization)
totalHoursOfOccupancy (the total hour of occupancy in the occupancy data is calculated and used for normalization)
How to normalize the result
APPLIESTOFIELDSall (the metric will apply to all 7 possible input fields: ill_all_drawn, ill_none_drawn, ill_controlled, dir_all_drawn, dir_none_drawn, dir_all_drawn, dir_controlled, irr
'illuminance', the metric will apply to the input fields: ill_all_drawn, ill_none_drawn, ill_controlled)
irradiance (the metric will apply to the input field: irr)
direct illuminance (the metric will apply to the input fields: dir_all_drawn, dir_none_drawn, dir_all_drawn, dir_controlled)
Which fields of the measurement plane that the metric should apply to
TIMEFLAGSwhenOcc (True/False, it is necessary for the zone to be occupied for the time step to count)
whenDay (True/False, it is necessary for the direct irradiance to be over 120 W/m^2 for the time step to count (daytime))
whenBright (True/False, it is necessary for the diffuse irradiance to be larger than a computed limit for the time step to count)
How to time filter the metric, several can be be active.
RESULTTYPENAMEnoskip (the metric will be joined to the input field with an underscore, e.g., max_dir_none_drawn)
skip (the metric will be joined with the suffix (all_drawn/none_drawn/controlled) with an underscore, e.g., Leed_sDA100_controlled)
override (the metric will be used directly, e.g., Insolation)
Which rule to use when naming the results.
ONLYFORWHOLEYEARTrue/Falsedefines if the metric is to be done only for whole-year simulations
UNITbase (the unit of the input field will be used)
base+ABC (the unit of the input field will be used, with (ABC) appended)
any text ("any text" will be used as the unit)
Defines how the unit of the metric-input field combination is generated
GRANULARITYPointwise (treat the plane measuring point by measuring point, Plane (average the value of all points in the plane)The granularity of the plane
AGGREGATE-OPERATOR% <, % >, <, >Comparison to be done for aggregation over the plane
AGGREGATE-LIMITList of positive value(s)The limit(s) that should be used for aggregation over the plane. Must always be a list that starts and ends with parantheses.
REPORT-TABLETrue/FalseIf the metric should be included in the report table (Results)
REPORT-IMAGETrue/FalseIf the metric should be included in the report image
