This form can be opened by clicking the link Manage WSL (or Install WSL) located in the bottom right corner of the CFD tab.
Full installation instructions are found here: CFD installation.

Install backend

This downloads the custom Linux image from EQUA's servers and imports it into WSL as a Linux distribution named equa-linux. The download is big (approximately 400MB), and it can take a few minutes to download. It contains an entire Linux distribution and OpenFOAM.

(Downloaded files are digitally signed by EQUA and the signature is verified during the process.)

Delete backend

This completely removes the currently installed Linux distribution from the computer. It does not affect the WSL, only the equa-linux distribution.

This is required if a full update to the equa-linux distribution is announced (which should be rarely).

Be careful to save any active CFD cases before deleting the backend.

An alternative is to delete the backend manually as described here.

Reset backend

The reset backend button does only work if the backend has been previously installed by the current user. I.e. if the backend has been downloaded at some earlier instant.

Resetting the backend is needed if the size of the backend has grown too big on the disk. It is adviced to reset the backend now and then, but be careful to save any active CFD cases before resetting the backend.

When the backend is resetting, the installed WSL distribution is first deleted and then re-installed from the file that was downloaded during a previous "Install backend" operation.

When do I need to reset the backend?

This depends on how much disk space you have and how many and how large CFD cases you have processed.

The backend "image" is available as a file on the Windows filesystem. To view it open the Windows Explorer and type %LOCALAPPDATA%\equa-linux in the path field at the top of the Explorer window.
