Shapes

Box-type shapes

The following elements are edited by selecting them and dragging one of the handles at the objects border (see Moving and reshaping). Some of the elements have special points for editing the parameters. The additional parameters are available via the advanced properties dialog.

Rectangle (Box)
A rectangular area with its sides parallel to the page’s sides.
Rounded Box
A box with rounded corners. Moving the handle placed in the center of the bottom-right rounding ellipse changes the radii of the rounded corners.
Circle
Can only be resized proportionally.

An additional parameter :inscribed specify a list of (poly)lines inscribed in the circle. Each line is represented as a list of angles (in degrees) of the corners’ positions relative to the center of the circle.

Circle Arc, Circle Sector
Two handles show the start and the end of the arc. The arc can be rotated by dragging a handle with Shift key pressed.
Ellipse
A supplementary handle shows the focus of the ellipse. When dragging the focus, the ellipse is rotated and reshaped (with area unchanged).
Regular polygon
Additional parameters

:np Number of vertices (default 4)
:dp If dp>=1, every dp-th vertex is connected (default 1);
If dp<1, every other vertex is closer to the center (r2 = dp*r)
:angle The rotation angle relative to standard position. The angle may also be changed by moving the polygon.
Lattice
Additional parameters

:vertical Either the list of relative positions of vertical grid lines, or the distance between grid lines in pixels. The default is the list (0.5 0.8 1.0)
:horizontal Ditto for horizontal lines. Default 24.

The cells may be resized by dragging the grid lines with the mouse. It is also possible to add and remove grid lines by dragging from/to the borderline.

To insert a graphical element into a lattice cell, right click inside the cell and select Insert … from the context menu. The inserted item will occupy the whole interior of the cell.

To insert a graphical item into 2 or 4 adjacent cells, right click on the grid line or corner.

To change the distance between the items to be inserted, change the line width of the lattice in the Symbol properties dialog.

Picture
Show an image from an external graphical file. May also show text instead of graphics. The pictures may be rotated. In this way IDA Modeler supports non-horizontal text.
Frame box
A box with text label (by default at the left end of the top side).

See also text style.

Line-type shapes

The following elements are edited by adding, moving and deleting their vertices, as is described in Editing the line.

Point set
Point set is a set of points (hollow or filled circles) with the same radius, color and thickness.

Additional parameters

:radius The radius of the points, in pixels
:filled-p If non-nil, the points are filled
Line
Line is a set of linked segments with the same color and style. A Line element may contain one or more such sets (multiple contours). A line element may also have arrows at any (or both) of two ends.
Curve
A curve is drawn thru given points. The shape of the curve may be modified using additional control points (these points are visible in editing mode only). The curve element may contain multiple contours.
Polygon
Polygon is either one or more closed lines or a filled region bounded by these lines.
Region
Region is either one or more closed curves or a filled area bounded by these curves.
Plot line
Plot line is a line that graphically represents a function of one variable. The vertices of the plot line are sorted in increasing order of the horizontal coordinate. Plot lines may only be inserted in diagram fields.
