Co-simulation with Python and MATLAB

This guide includes instructions on how to setup IDA ICE 5.0 models for co-simulation with MATLAB 2018b or Python ver. 3.8.3 or later.

In what follows a simple PI controller will be modelled in MATLAB or Python and two channels will be opened for the exchange of signals between IDA ICE and MATLAB or Python. The room temperature (feedback) will be exported from ICE into MATLAB or Python, the model calculates the control signal and exports it back to ICE. Two new components will be used in ICE for setting up the communication with MATLAB. They are “Export” and “Import” and can be found under the “All” palette on the left-hand side. These components like any other can just be dragged and dropped into the ICE model.
