Parametric Runs-Tutorial
- Generate a simple model consisting of a tunnel and two entries at the portals. The case should correspond to the available case. …\tunnel\samples\tunnel\sample3.idm.

Figure 51. A simple model for parametric run
Set the PWind at the left portal equal to 10 Pa. Run the case. The volume flow rate in the tunnel is 76.34 m3/s for the default parameters of the model.
Then go to Tools → Parametric Runs and create a “New” case (Figure 52).

- From the section form, by right-clicking, add the lambda to ParmRun_1. This parameter will be added to the input list. In the Parametric Runs window, set a suitable range (e.g., from 0.01 to 0.05) and a suitable resolution (e.g., 10).

- From the section form, by right-clicking, add VFAir1 in m3/s to ParmRun_1 as output and set its role to SHOW (this will only display the result of the variables without affecting the optimization). When ready, your window should look like the one below (Figure 54).

- Try first the Sensitivity analysis
: it will generate cases with only the minimum and the maximum of the lambda range, respectively (and the specified value if it is different from this minimum and the maximum), which is a good way to see the influence of the parameter on the outcome. - Now, Run all
. This represents a brute force approach: all possible lambdas, in this case 10, will be applied in 10 separate simulations. - Under the Result tab of the Parametric Runs (Figure 56), create a Diagram with the + sign (1). Set the lambda to the X axis and the VFAir1 result to the Y axis (2) and observe the result in a graph.
