IDA ICE extensions

Localizations

These country-specific localizations are designed to support national regulations, standards, and calculation methods. The overview below presents the currently available localizations and the markets they are intended for.

Austria

Currently the Austrian localization only includes the German language package.

Denmark

The localization Denmark is based on the document “Branchevejledning for Indeklima” dated September 2025. The focus is on thermal comfort and daylight. And the parts possible to perform using IDA ICE.

Main features included are calculation of “udsyn” and hours of temperature above thresholds given by selected climate class. Also included is a function that limits the air flow in zones due to openable windows. Regarding daylight, the 300 lux method is implemented  In addition, climate files from the Danish Metrological Institute are distributed. Both current and future climate.

Estonia

The localization Estonia makes it easier and more efficient to use IDA ICE for projects in this region. It includes regional locations as well as climate files and support the regional building regulations and include tailored Estonian reports:

The energy certificates main input values and the results will be automatically filled to the IDA ICE’s EC report. After that the user can easily fill the rest of the required information. It is possible to make it according to the old (Estonia building code 2019) and current (Estonia building code 2025) regulation.

Main features:

  • Basic external wall constructions with typical U values.
  • Material resources for all kinds of materials to be used in the construction layers.
  • Some typical Estonian weather and location files.
  • Estonian building code 2019 or Estonian building code 2025
    • Building template values § 6 “Kasutusajad ja vabasoojus“
    • Profiles from table 2, 3 and 4.
    • Zone templates based on the tables 2-4.
    • Domestic hot water use from § 7 “Sooja vee tarbimine“.
    • Infiltration from § 9 “Hoone välispiirde õhuleke“.
    • Summer time temperature degree hour calculation and reporting based on the building code rules.
    • Building code PEF factors for delivered energy meters.
    • Window airing macro for residential building summertime temperature calculation.
    • Excel report to get basic EC input and output directly from IDA ICE 5.1 to IDA Excel report.
    • Exported energy accounting and reporting based on RES directive localized in Estonia, but that counting is not included in the EP value calculation.
    • Another EP value B calculated without on-site RES electricity

Germany

The “German Localization” extension is optionally available for the IDA ICE basic package (standard or expert edition). This package includes useful functions for simulation services in Germany. The most important ones are:

  • The language can be switched to German. This means that not only the user interfaces but also the generated output reports are translated, which significantly supports efficient reporting
  • A German start model is available in which, compared to the regular IDA ICE start model (building with one zone), various adjustments have been made and which has German zone templates
  • The German start model contains zone templates based on DIN 18599-10, which can be used as a basis for defining zone data, especially when room data is not available
  • Climate files based on TRY climate data from the German Weather Service (DWD) are available or can be imported
  • A database of application-typical and practice-related materials based on DIN 4108-4 and EN ISO 10456
  • Efficient realization of the verification of summer heat protection according to the simulation-based method of DIN 4108-2
  • Efficient export of building geometry and material data to the “ZUB Helena” software package. As part of the export, various definitions necessary for the GEG verification are also made, such as the zoning of the GEG model
  • An evaluation of the thermal comfort according to DIN EN 16798-1
  • Information on simulations in accordance with DGNB and ASR
  • Calculation of “Relative Nutzbelichtung” in accordance with DIN 5034-3
  • Assessment of criteria for indoor air quality and outdoor air volume flows in accordance with DIN EN 16798-1
  • Assessment of daylight supply in accordance with DIN EN 17037

Switzerland

The Swiss localization extension is optionally available for the IDA ICE basic package (standard or expert edition). This package contains many useful input aids for simulation services in Switzerland. These are based on the SIA (Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects) standards used in Switzerland. The most important components are

  • The interface language can be switched to German or French and also the generated output reports are translated, which can be crucial for efficient reporting.
  • The climate data according to SIA 2028:2010 as well as the climate data for the future climate scenarios are available for all 40 measuring stations and four additional city centre stations.
  • In addition to the start models contained in IDA ICE, three additional start models are included, which contain preset input values and schedules as used in the SIA standards (in particular SIA 2024:2021).
  • The database contained in the basic installation is supplemented by the following database objects:
    • Material data according to SIA building material characteristics
    • Wall constructions according to SIA 380/2:2022 Table 3 for target and limit value and free interpreted according to SIA 2024 for existing buildings
    • Thermal characteristic values of typical glazing in accordance with SIA 380/2:2022
    • Life cycle assessment data according to KBOB and national weighting factors according to ENDK
    • Regulations according to SIA 180 for ventilation, window opening and sun protection.
    • Ventilation controls (single-stage, two-stage and stepless ventilation control in accordance with SIA 2024:2021.
    • Control of shading and lighning according to SIA 387/4.
  • The SIA tab can be used to start the following calculation and simulation runs in accordance with SIA specifications.
    • Heating load calculation according to heating capacity requirement SIA 380/2:2022 - 4.2
    • Cooling load calculation according to cooling capacity requirement SIA 380/2:2022 - 4.3
    • Overheating according to SIA 380/2:2022
Energy calculation according to SIA 380/2:2022 - 5
    • Energy requirements according to SIA 380/2:2022 - 7
    • Verification of summer thermal insulation according to SIA 180:2014 - C.1
    • Verification of winter thermal insulation according to SIA 380/1:2016

More information and detailed instructions to the different topics you find in the Manual of the Swiss localization.
